When one meets Wang Min, the positive energy she communicates transfers readily and makes those around her feel joyful. Wang Min’s works are infused with the same strong positive emotion she evokes as an individual. Most often expressing her spirit with portraiture of female subjects, she explains that the faces populating her works come from her minds’ eye and not from sitting subjects.
Wang Min’s earlier pieces were filled with a vibrant and effective grasp of color. In the last few years, trimming back color to essential tones has increased focus on development of her technique and her ability to evoke feeling. Wang Min’s works bring their greatest reception with the younger generations of China who connect with her effective and positive vision of contemporary China.
